Life Legacy

Anchorage resident Michael Raymond Mruk, 58, passed away at Providence Alaska Medical Center after a brief and brave battle with lung cancer. A service will be held at Bereka Church (Wellspring Building) 2511 Sentry Drive on Saturday May 4th at 3 p.m. with a potluck celebration to immediately follow. The service will be led by Pastor Victor Abalos along with a tribute from his fellow Moose Lodge brothers. His ashes will be scattered at his favorite Alaskan locations.

Mike was born in Waukegan, IL on January 31, 1955. He came to Kodiak, AK in 1974 and fell in love with its beauty and wildlife. He graduated from refrigeration vocational school in Portland, OR. In 1979 he met his wife, Grace, at his brother Tom's wedding in Seattle, WA. Mike and Grace were married in 1982. He was a long time member of the local 1534 Moose Lodge. Mike owned Alaska Refrigeration and enjoyed working, traveling and meeting people from all corners of Alaska even until his last few days. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, listening to the Beatles and watching his three sons play soccer. Mike's hobbies included playing the guitar and also playing Billiards and Snooker at the Moose Lodge with his close friends. Above all else, Mike loved being a father to his three sons.

Mike is preceded in death by his father John Edward Mruk. He is survived by Grace, his wife of 30 years, his three sons, Matthew (Emily), Adam and David; mother Charlene; sister Janet (Tom) and brothers Tom (Kim) and Doug, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
