Wasilla resident Mary Angela Wassilie, 30, died on July 4, 2010, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
A visitation will be at 2 p.m., with a service at 3 p.m., today at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. Father Peter Chris will officiate. Pallbearers include Michael Wassilie Jr., Carl Wassilie, Willie Wassilie, Yako Wassilie, Willie Frank, Gabe Olick and Harry Wassilie. Additional services may be held in Tuntutuliak at a later date. Mary will be laid to rest at Tuntutuliak Cemetery.
Mary was born May 18, 1980, in Bethel and was a resident of Alaska all her life.
She had medical assistant training for one year. She was employed at Frontier Medical Center in Wasilla, the Alaska Native Medical Center and the Southcentral Foundation.
She was affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Church.
Her hobbies included Eskimo dancing, the subsistence way of life, camping, ice fishing, hair cutting and driving. She was always well dressed and always helped those in need.
Her family wrote: "Mary was energetic and all around friendly. She was fun and full of wisdom on life issues. She was also a very helpful and caring person."
Survivors include her parents, Michael and Marie Wassilie; sisters, Elena and Bobbie; brothers, Mike Jr., Carl, Yako and Willie; a nephew whom she regarded as a grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; two brothers; and four babies.
